The first week of 2013 has come to an end, and so far we have had no news regarding the impending iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for Apple iPhone 5 and preceding devices. While it has been quite a long time since we last saw an untethered jailbreak, which was possibly for iOS 5.1.1, we can again see the hopes for iOS 6 untethered jailbreak, coming to reality as our friend from the jailbreak community breaks his silence. PlanetBeing, a famous iOS hacker published an important piece of update regarding the iOS 6/iPhone 5 jailbreak on Reddit earlier. He probably used Reddit because Twitter limited the post to 140 characters! Here’s more, right after the jump below!
iOS 6.0.2 Untethered Jailbreak Coming To Reality
The update from PlanetBeing created a hype, and a buzz across various technology forums lately, and at the same time hints towards iOS 6.0.2 untethered jailbreak coming to reality. He insists that it is only a matter of time before the actual untethered jailbreak hits the market. PlanetBeing described the situation in 3 points.
Firstly, he claims that he is running an untethered jailbreak on his iPhone 5, but the dev team cannot release it because it would patch the only exploit in future firmware updates, and they need to preserve it to make future iOS updates jailbreak friendly. Secondly, Apple is about to release iOS 6.1, and there are chances that they will not patch the exploit discovered by PlanetBeing, so a little wait is much appreciated. Lastly, there are 4+ bugs discovered, which led to untethered iOS 6.0.2 jailbreak, but they need 2-3 more bugs to make the jailbreak harder and stronger. Here’s his exact words from Reddit:
Anyway, where there are 4+ bugs (that it took to get this to work), there’s gotta be one or two more so while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated.
This is not stuff I want to say over Twitter with 140 characters because I’m afraid of starting some sort of riot, but I like the smaller /r/jailbreak community more.
The news is that he has already jailbroken his iPhone 5.
Yeah, I’m not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now.
Well, whatever he says makes sense to us here at Gadgec. If situations remain consistent, we will have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 jailbreak hitting the market in no time. As for now, its only a matter of little more time. Let us know your views via the comments section below. For more, keep subscribed!
