Last few weeks have been a nightmare for Indian piracy community, since all of the Indian ISPs had blocked access to major leading torrent and media sites as per High Courts orders. Some of the torrent sites which were covered under this law were Torrentz, The Pirate Bay, Torrent Reactor, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Xmarks, Kick Ass Torrents and much more. As soon as the order came into effect, torrent sites became unavailable all across India, on all major ISPs including Airtel Broadband, Reliance Communications, MTNL, BSNL etc.
The initiative first taken by Madras High Court, based on John Doe injunction obtained by a Chennai based film industry seeking copyright violence protection for its Tamil flick ‘3’ has finally been lifted off today. The torrent sites are now up and accessible all across India, and on all major ISPs. Seems that the case went in favor of piracy community. Whatever it is, we are happy that Torrent and other media websites are now active and running all across the country.
Following is the list of Torrent and other media sites which were blocked in late May ‘2012:
Video Sharing sites
Please note that the list only highlights major Torrent and media sites. There are other websites as well which were earlier blocked and now the ban has been lifted off. However, if you are still not able to access these websites on your ISP, you should probably wait for a day or so for the action to be implemented nationwide. Or, you can also use ‘https://’ before the website address to access torrent or media sites. For instance,
You can use https://torrentz.eu instead of http://torrentz.eu to access all torrent websites.
We are happy that the ban has been lifted off, and we can finally access torrent and media sites without trouble. We are not really sure if the action would remain consistent! Anyway, we are going to live in the moment, and the moment is free of all bans on all ISPs across India. Cheers!
