We need storage devices to store our photographs, documents, notes, calenders, music and what not. 2012 is an year which highlights the launch of a lot of cloud storage services across the internet, which lets you utilize capacities in case you need to keep a backup of your data. One good thing about cloud storage is that you don’t physically need to access it or carry it wherever you go. It is apparently with you and can be accessed by you from any part of the world. For the past 6 months, I have personally been using Apple’s iCloud service for backing up my iPhone data online, however it was only limited to my phone data. Today, we are introducing a whole new cloud storage service from RapidShare, known as RapidDrive which serves the purpose of backing up your data online.

RapidDrive, developed by the developers of none other than RapidShare lets you sync files, and store your data on its cloud server. Well, we have not seen anything competent to DropBox’s service as of now, but you might like to check this RapidDrive which we feel can prove out to be a tough competition for other cloud storage services, including DropBox.

We have been in love with RapidShare since ever. It lets us host and share files online , and has reached an all new level of popularity across the web. Now, we are expecting something really huge from RapidDrive as well, and seems like it does deliver us a bunch of utilities including cloud sync, and desktop client however the service is currently limited to RapidShare users only, and is available in its beta version as of now.

Recently, we have seen Google stepping into the world of cloud storage services, with its feature for iOS and other platforms namely Google Drive. While Google Drive gives tough competition to DropBox and SugarSync services, we are expecting RapidDrive’s services would be productive once its launched for general internet users.

RapidShare’s CEO Alexandra Zwingli was said confirming the same:

“With RapidDrive, we are providing a tool that creates an even closer link between cloud storage and the PC environment, which makes it easier to manage files, RapidDrive is an essential means of simplifying work processes, especially for customers who are regular users of RapidShare at work.”
