It’s finally out, with a refreshed color tone, updated hardware, and a longer 4-inch display. Apple’s iPhone 5 has been the hottest topic around the wide web for over the past 24 hours, ever since Apple unveiled it in its media event yesterday, in San Francisco. With a super powered A6-processor chip, and a revamped hardware, Apple’s iPhone 5 is all set to reach for the smartphone crown side-kicking many competitor devices on its way. While people are a bit disappointed regarding the design of the device which is still the same bar-shaped, we really liked the two-toned color of Apple’s iPhone 5. Another major update is the change in the SIM card it accepts, which supports all new NANO-SIM technology. Here’s more about it, right after the jump!
Nano-SIM Vs Micro-SIM Cards- All You Need To Know
A SIM card which is 40% smaller than the already existing Micro-SIM card. Yes, we are talking about the Nano-SIM cards which will be required to access network in Apple’s iPhone 5. The device will be sporting the recently approved Nano-SIM standard which were first introduced by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, way back in June.
The Nano-SIM cards which go by the dimensions 12.3mm wide, 8.8mm high, and 0.67mm thick introduce altogether a new concept of making devices, specially smartphones much more compact by saving space inside the body.
Talking about the functionality, there is no change in the working, or power consumption of the Nano-SIM cards and the only difference we can compute in between Nano-SIM and Micro-SIM is in their sizes. Everything shiny does not come in small packages, that’s exactly the situation Nano-SIM cards are going to face in the future, i.e Micro-SIM’s were easier to create at home, by simply cutting the good-old large SIM cards, using the golden-chip part of it. With Nano-SIM cards already 40% smaller than the Micro-SIM cards, you will need to purchase it from your carrier store. However, we have seen adapters which can convert Micro-SIM to Nano-SIM cards and visa-versa.
When will the Nano-SIM cards be available in the market? Well, telecom operators have already started the production as more and more smartphones would be going for this technology in the future.
That’s all we knew about the Nano-SIM cards. Let us know if you are going to buy an iPhone 5 in future. For more, keep subscribed!
