Key Information About JEE 2016

Being conducted by CBSE, the Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Main 2016 is considered the largest engineering entrance exam in the country. This exam will be held in offline as well as online modes in the month of April, 2016. If you are looking to make a career in engineering or technology, the first step is to prepare and clear Paper 1 of this entrance exam and if you are looking to make a career in architecture or planning, you need to clear Paper 2 of this exam.

Exam Dates

  • The pen and paper based offline exam will be conducted on the 3rd of April 2016.
  • The computer based online examination will be held in 2 shifts on the 9th and 10th of April 2016

JEE 2016 Admit Card

Applicants will receive their admit cards in the month of March, 2016. In the meantime an applicant is being given the facility of correcting his or her application form.

JEE Main Application Form 2016

Eligible candidates can download, fill in and upload their application form online. In addition to the form, certain documents such as photograph of the candidate, pay requisite application fees and signature of the candidate also need to be uploaded online simultaneously. The portal to upload these documents is The application number and password provided to the candidate on the portal at the time of form submission must be noted down as he or she will require it to download the admit card as well as to check the exam results.


  • Any student who has passed his 12th grade exams, or its equivalent is eligible to apply for JEE
  • An applicant can appear for the JEE exam as an interim measure if he or she is appearing in his or her 12th grade final exam in the year of the exam.
  • It is compulsory for all applicants to pass 5 papers in their 12th grade exams. Applicants who have passed only 4 or less exams will not be eligible
  • Contenders are only eligible to give the JEE exam if they have passed their 12th grade exam in the previous year or current year of the JEE Exam. Students who have cleared their 12th grade exams more than a year prior cannot appear for the JEE exam
  • The date of birth of the contender has to be on or after 1st of October 1990 for him or her to be eligible for the exam. In the case of ST, SC and PwD candidates their date of birth has to be on or after 1st of October 1985
  • A candidate is only allowed three attempts at the JEE mains exam.

Form Correction

Candidates are permitted to alter the particulars in their forms from the 21st of January 2016 until the 31st of January 2016. Even if a candidate does not wish to change any particulars on his form, he is advised to visit the website and verify the particulars of his form. Changing of the exam mode from online to offline or vice versa is not permitted, additionally even change in city for the examination is not permitted.
