Are you a WordPress user? Well, it is one of the widely used blogging platform, and if you are a blogger, chances are that you are a WordPress user. If you are a WordPress user, you must be annoyed at times when the platform doesn’t understand your Author URL, redirecting you to a 404-Not Found page when the author link is clicked. These errors will be reflected in your Google Webmaster Tools account as well, under the banner of Crawl Errors and my look like the link below:
Such URLs will lead you to nowhere, and there is no way you can change them, from within the WordPress dashboard. In this tutorial I will guide you on how you can change these author URL’s to a valid destination, for a better SEO in return.
How To Fix Author URL In WordPress:
1. First of all, you need to navigate to your cPanel. If you are not aware of the cPanel URL, check your web-hosting details or you can even try the following URL in your browser.
2. Once you enter your cPanel dashboard, navigate to the phpMyAdmin option. It should be available under the Databases category.
3. Next, select your WordPress installation from the left-panel. Then click on wp-user option from the left-panel and hit the Browse button.
4. Then click on the Edit button on your profile in the main-panel. Lastly, simply change the user-nicename option to a reachable URL or a name without spaces, like Sidhant-Chadha instead of Sidhant Chadha.
Save it, and you’re done. Now whenever someone will click on the author URL, a valid author page will be displayed instead of 404-not-found error.
