In the last few months we have seen a lot of cellular related big shots were hired by Facebook. Though the social networking giant remains discrete about it, we had our sources digging it up a bit for us. Recently, Facebook hired Cupertino based giant- Apple’s ex-UI design manager, and absorbed him as product design manager at Facebook. Well, that is not really surprising, but what is Mr. Zuckerberg doing with all these mobile-industry related people on his side? We doubt it to be the much hyped Facebook phone, which is going to have an Apple like flavor, after Facebook hired jailbreak specialist Grant Paul, and now Chris Weeldreyer, the ex-Apple UI design manager.
Weeldreyer, who served as the UI design manager in Apple for almost eight-years, joined Facebook on June 18 ‘2012, almost four months after leaving the Cupertino giant, as cited by TNW.
Chris Weeldreyer has had his name in a lot of Apple patent applications, and has worked on iWeb and Numbers software. After having a look at his LinkedIn profile, which displays UI design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design as his key strengths, we came over to the Career section which clearly shows his role as Product Manager at Facebook.
Facebook on the other hand has officially confirmed the news, stating:
“We’re excited to welcome Chris Weeldreyer to Facebook, where he will be a great addition to our growing design team.”
So it is clear that Facebook is actually hiring mobile experts, but what for? It’s mobile products, iOS 6 integration, or the much hyped Facebook Phone? Let us know your views via the comments section below. For more, keep subscribed to Gadgec!
